  By Sheila M. Matibag

The annual institutional recollection was held last March 8 with the theme of “We are Vincentian: Beloved, Gifted and Empowered.” Campus Ministry Office, together with its coordinators, prepared the event providing Adamson University (AdU) employees a day full of games, talks, activities and prayers.

The event was divided into three parts: Beloved: Raise Up Mission, Gifted: Inflamed with Faith, and Empowered: Shining in God’s Reign.

The event happened in different places in Tagaytay and Antipolo where participants were divided according to colleges and offices. The participants were the ones who decided for the designation of venues.

Speakers in the event came from Kairos Retreat & Training Services, a group who professionally gives recollections and retreats. The Director of Operations of Kairos Retreat & Training Services, Noel Salvacion assigned different speaker for each venues.

“In Adamson University, hindi lang natin fino-form intellectually ang mga employee, and mga bata, for example, mga student, but also spiritually. That’s the main purpose—to give them a break for the spiritual life, for the spiritual journey (In Adamson University, we do not just form intellectually the employees and the children, for example, students, but also spiritually. That’s the main purpose – to give them a break for the spiritual life, for the spiritual journey)”, Campus Lay Minister Erick Sta. Maria said in an interview.

Mr. Archie Baloso, a participant from Institute of Religious Education, was assigned at St. Michael’s Retreat House in Antipolo. He said that the recollection allowed him to reflect on what he can do this Lenten season for the sacrifices of Jesus Christ as well as His death.

“It is also a time for me to have a reconciliation with God,” Baloso told The Daily Digger.

The annual institutional recollection allows AdU faculty members to take time and reflect to further sustain their faith in the almighty God.

Lent is the season when Catholic Christians repent, reflect, abstain and fast in honor of the sacrifices and the life offered by Jesus Christ.

Ash Wednesday is one of the important dates in Catholic Christian Calendars which begins the six weeks of abstinence from food especially meat. This practice commemorates Jesus Christ who had 40 days and nights of fasting in Judaean Desert.
